Ned Rig

A small mushroom-head jig head (about 1.8–7 g) with a short, buoyant stick-shaped soft plastic. At rest the tail tilts slightly up off the bottom; the action is extremely subtle. A very consistent finesse technique.

BHow it works

How It Works

  • The flat bottom of the mushroom head makes it stand on the bottom and the buoyant plastic lifts the tail, like a small creature feeding on the bottom.
  • The action is so subtle it catches fish even when you do almost nothing.
CRetrieve

Techniques

  1. “Swim–glide–shake”: a few slow turns to glide it just above the bottom, then let it settle and give it two light shakes.
  2. Drag slowly or hop it in small hops.

FTarget & Tips

Target Species & Tips

  • The lighter the jig head the better, as long as you can still feel the bottom.
