Chatterbait (Bladed Jig)

チャターベイト · Also called Chanyong (“shiver-swim”), Bladed jig

A jig head with a hexagonal metal blade on the front, plus a silicone skirt and soft-plastic trailer. On the retrieve the blade knocks side to side, making the whole bait shake hard: strong vibration and good at coming through weeds.

BHow it works

How It Works

  • Water pushes the blade to slap against the jig head side to side, producing strong low-frequency vibration and flash, and the body swings along with it.
  • More compact than a spinnerbait and better through weeds, with an action more like a panicked, fleeing baitfish.
CRetrieve

Techniques

  1. A steady retrieve is the basic method.
  2. When it catches weeds, rip it free, pause briefly, then keep reeling.
  3. In cold water, slow-roll it along the bottom or fish it lift & fall.

FTarget & Tips

Target Species & Tips

  • A paddle-tail trailer gives it a livelier action; a flat tail makes it more stable.
  • Keep tension after the hookup; the blade makes it easier for a head-shaking fish to throw the hook.
