Top PicksTexas rig
A sliding bullet weight + offset hook + soft plastic. The hook point is buried in the plastic, so it almost never snags weeds or wood; the standard rig for fishing thick cover.
#2Spinnerbait
An R-shaped (or V-shaped) wire arm: the upper arm carries 1–2 spinning blades, the lower arm a lead-head single hook with a silicone skirt. The hook point rides up, protected by the wire, so it slips through weed edges, wood and other cover with good snag resistance.
#3Free Rig
A teardrop (or stick) weight with a line hole threads directly onto the main line and slides freely, with the hook and soft plastic tied at the end. The weight sinks to the bottom fast, and the plastic follows on its own, slowly drifting down with a very natural fall.
#4Rubber Jig
A single-hook lure with a lead head, weed guard and silicone skirt, usually with a craw-style soft-plastic trailer to imitate crawfish and other bottom creatures. Built to target big bass in cover and on the bottom.
#5Crankbait
A short, chunky hard bait with a wide lip. It dives as soon as you reel and has a strong wobble; the longer the lip, the deeper it runs. Most float and rise on the pause.
#6Neko Rig
A nail weight is inserted into the head of a stick worm, and the hook goes through the worm wacky-style, a little toward the head. The worm “stands” head-down on the bottom, and its tail wags when you shake it.
